Tashkent's Soviet Modernism Finds Its Archivists

A volunteer group is documenting Uzbek modernist buildings before renovation erases them.

The group has photographed 180 buildings, many with mosaic facades designed by local artists.

Their catalogue is now being used in preservation submissions.
